Tuesday's To Do

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Take a chill pill.

It is only Tuesday, and I've been making mountains out of molehills all week. Do you ever have days like that? My pitiful list of stressors:

The wireless internet went out!
(Hubby fixed it.)

Leaky sippy cups made a mess in the boys' lunch boxes!
(I bought new cups. The boxes are waterproof.)

The boys keep throwing toys!
(They are little boys.)

A meeting was pushed back, and then postponed!
(I went anyway, and got done what I needed to get done.)

I can feel myself getting wound up, over a whole lot of nothing. I can see it happening, so I'm going to take a deep breath and tell myself to chill. Chill.

And I'm going to meditate on this:

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

  1. Courtney,
Your posts are always so timely for me. I just had a mini nervous breakdown yesterday afternoon with hubby looking at me & telling me that I need to relax about some of these things that I am all worked up about b/c I can't control them, that I'm making mountains out of molehills, and to CHILL out. Perhaps I should follow your Tuesday's To Do! Hope you find that relaxation and peace today! Anne

  2. Thanks, Anne! I always worry when I post something like this that no one will relate and it will turn out that I'm crazy. So thanks for sharing - you made me feel better already!

  3. Courtney, you're a little crazy, but so am I, and so is everyone else... (-: We're human! And, Anne, we all have mini nervous breakdowns, even people you think would never let themselves "lose it" like that. The answer is in verses like those you've quoted, Courtney. So thank you for sharing. A similar passage from Psalms comes to my mind that I'd like to share: "Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righeousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him..." Psalm 37:5-7a (It's just so hard to be patient!)

  4. I too need to take this same advice. When I see my list on paper it is really ridiculous.. especially when compared to things that are going on in other people's lives. You are not alone. Thank you for the post and the advice. :)
