Tuesday's To Do

Work on my photo albums.

Please don't tell me you are all up to date on yours. If you are, great. But me - I am years (years!) behind. A dreadful side effect of having a blog. See, I've GOT all the photos; I just can't touch them. I need to print out the best ones (that selection job takes time) and put them in albums. I need to figure out what goes where.

I have spurts of productivity. I'll order some, update the album, and feel really good. Then I don't do it again for a while, and I lose track of the chronological order of our lives.

"This picture of Little Guy dressed like a pumpkin. Was that last Halloween, or the year before?"

Sad.

Part of me thinks I should just print out my blog, but that would probably kill our printer, not to mention numerous ink cartridges and reams of paper. And still, I want the photos.

Here is the reality: Whenever I have free time (rare!), I'm not in the super-organized/motivated mood that is required to clean up my years-behind photo mess.

So, I'm going to try again. Because the holidays are approaching and I'm starting to feel stressed about preserving and creating memories. And this part of the blog is supposed to motivate me (and you!) to get something done. Here I go . . .

  2. Hey Courtney - I have a friend who just bought a groupon to print out her blog and turn it into a book. Let me find out from her what site etc and I will pass it along :) That would be the only thing that actually gives me an album. My last album was pre digital camera - whoa. nothing saving me :) now

  3. We use the iPhoto books that you can order through your Mac. It is easy, just put the photos in an album, put the album in a photo book and then do the "auto-fill" so it places the photos already in the book in the order they are in your album. Then I just go through and add comments. They can be a bit pricey but by the time you print the photos, buy the albums and various scrapbooking cute things, it is not that bad. That being said, I am still behind. I have made it through Dec. 2008 and have not had any made for 2009 or 2010 yet! The quality is great too!

  4. This is timely for me. My 10 year college reunion is this weekend and I was reading your blog to procrastinate scanning in the best pictures from senior year to add to a facebook album. Sigh. I guess the Lord is nudging me to be productive.

On another note, I have been wanting to print out my shutterfly blog just because there are so many notes about my son's development that I would love to put in his babybook to look back on.

  5. I used The Cutest Blog on the Block website to print out my blog each January for the previous year. It printed all of the pictures, had a hardback cover and was less than $50. Can't beat that! Good luck, it is a daunting task! I am just now getting around to backing up my computer bc ALL of my pictures are stored there and I would be so depressed if I lost everything.

  6. The stack of photo envelopes on my nightstand, computer desk and (yes) bedroom floor indicates that I have the same problem. Don't know where to begin, don't know how I should organize, don't know if I will ever finish!!
