Tuesday's To Do

Be present.

I usually roll my eyes at a phrase like that. What does it mean? Who says stuff like that?

Well, I do. Because right now, to me, it means this: stop multitasking. Leave the computer in the bedroom and pay attention to your children. Stop texting and answering emails like people cannot wait. Let the phone ring, and put the list down, for heaven's sake!

Just be. . . there. And enjoy this holiday weekend.

So that is what I'm going to do.

I hope you all enjoy a lovely Thanksgiving. I'll see you back here on Monday!

Giving Day 23 - I was at Starbucks yesterday when a guy sat down near me with his computer, and then immediately spilled his enormous coffee. Normally, I would look the other way, reasoning that he didn't want any extra attention drawn to the situation. But yesterday, for some reason, I helped him. I grabbed his bag off the floor and moved it out of the path of the coffee waterfall. I told the barista that we had a little spill. I got napkins. The guy was super grateful, as he was busy saving his computer (he did) and couldn't bother with the bag or other stuff. The barista mopped it up quickly, and gave him another free coffee. It really could not have turned out any better, and now I've decided that looking the other way is not always the best thing.

  1. Courtney,
Yep, looks like we are on the same page today! I love when that happens. You post about something, and then find someone who is thinking the exact same thing!

Also, good job helping at Starbucks. I'm the person who usually spills the coffee while everyone quickly looks away. Glad to see you have been keeping up with your 30 days of Giving!
