Weekend Word

Friday, November 19, 2010

{Welcome to the weekend! I've chosen a word from my Bible's concordance, and am sharing a few of the related verses. I hope you will consider theses verses over the weekend, and perhaps spend time in the Word finding others. If you don't have a Bible handy, here is a great online version. Till Monday. . . }

JOY

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music. Psalm 98:4

A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones. Proverbs 15:30

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Matthew 13:44

If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. John 15:10-11

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. 1 Peter 1:8

I had another word planned for today, but when I saw this,
I just couldn't look away. I hardly ever open, let alone read, the quarterly Chi Omega magazine that still manages to find its way to my house. But for some reason, this time, I did. And I couldn't get past Lauren and her organization, Be The Joy. If you click on her site, I bet you will feel pause, awe, and inspiration, too.

Giving Day 19 - Check out Be The Joy. I love the simplicity and the challenge in that phrase. Also, I really like the heartbeads. They would make a great gift for just about anyone, and how nice to know that a purchase is spreading joy.

  1. Be the Joy = awesome! I'm glad you shared this. And thanks for "pontificating" on such an apt word via your careful choices of Bible verses. I particularly liked seeing Proverbs 15:30 featured, one of my favorite verses.
