: Guest-ify

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I just love Simple Mom. Recently, Tsh (cause we're on a first name basis) featured an article called, "Plan your Peaceful Christmas: Guest-ify your Home." You can read it here.

It appealed to me on many levels.

First, Plan Your Peaceful Christmas - yes! I want one of those. Tell me how. I'm ready.

Then, I like the photo. The room looks so cozy, clean, and organized. I want one of those, too.

Finally, Guest-ify. What does that mean? I'm intrigued.

I read, and learned a few things. For example, declutter the bath toys so there's ledge room in the tub. Duh! But, genius.

So today, I'm planning my peaceful Christmas by guest-ifing my house. Bath toys, watch out!

If you are off to be a guest in someone else's home, then check out Tsh's article titled How to Be a Guest in Someone Else's Home, here. I bet your host will thank you. And maybe even invite you back.

What about you? Are you playing hostess this year, or are you the guest?

How do you guest-ify, or guarantee a repeat invitation?

Share your guest-y tips.

  1. While we are lucky to not have overnight guests at Christmas since the relatives are in town, I have invited people over for various events and loved the advice in the Guest-ify article. Good time to clear out some extra clutter and old magazines to make room for the new year.

    Merry Christmas!

  2. This was a perfectly timed post for me because my Mom is coming for a few days and there were some things I was overlooking. Clearing the bath tub toys is one I've always been sensitive to because when we were first married we traveled for the University we attended and stayed in a different home every night of the week but one and many times we got the "kids' bathroom" complete with the potty chair (sometimes filled!) and everything...it totally grossed me out. So that's the first thing to go when we have compnay sharing a bathroom with the kids! But I had not given thought to a few of the things in the articles listed. Glad to have met you too!
