Weekend Word

{Welcome to the weekend! I've chosen a word from my Bible's concordance, and am sharing a few of the related verses. I hope you will consider theses verses over the weekend, and perhaps spend time in the Word finding others. If you don't have a Bible handy, here is a great online version. Till Monday. . .}

Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. Job 5:17

For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life. Proverbs 6:23

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid. Proverbs 12:1

He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him. Proverbs 13:24 (Rod is probably a figure of speech for loving discipline of any kind.)

Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to his death. Proverbs 19:18

Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul. Proverbs 29:17

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? . . . No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:7, 11

*Been thinking about this lately as I took Positive Parenting Solution's free webinar on Tuesday night. Thought provoking and helpful.

  1. Free webinar? Hmmm...I may have to check that out!

  2. No one likes discipline but that's how character grows. That is how God brings us to Himself. Great power verses! Happy WFW!
