Tuesday's To Do . . . is ongoing!

: Make February About Relationships

Check out the Relationships page to find more great articles on nurturing a variety of relationships in your life.

And speaking of relationships, don't we all need to work on ours with (1) God and (2) the opposite sex?

That is my best attempt at tying together these random thoughts:

(1) I'm only on Chapter 3, but Ann Voskamp's One Thousand Gifts, and it is as good as they say. The title is a reference to her list (now much longer) of one thousand gifts from God. Daily moments, which she decided to count. The book explains how and why, and tackles hard questions like, "How can God be good when bad thing happen?" She focuses on eucharisteo, which in Greek means, "he gave thanks." By counting gifts, she gives thanks, and lives more fully. I cannot adequately summarize it here, but if this appeals to you on any level,

Some days, ones with laundry and kids and dishes in sink, it is hard to think that the insulting ordinariness of this truly teaches the full mystery of the all most important, eucharisteo. It is so frustratingly common, it's offensive. . . (and yet) Do not disdain the small. The whole of life - even the hard - is made up of the minute parts, and if I miss the infinitesimals, I miss the whole. (Pages 55 and 57)

then go get yourself a copy. I'm participating in Bloom book club (for the first time), and their first "meeting" to discuss Chapter 1 of this book will be on Sunday, February 6th. Click here to read all about it. I'm going to guess that even if you haven't started reading One Thousand Gifts, you will be enriched and blessed by clicking over and watching their video chat with Ann on Sunday.

(2) Also, Faith Barista is doing a jam today: What is the one thing I wish someone had told me about dating?

Haaaaaaahahahaa. I mean, really. One thing? Well, if I have to narrow it down to one thing it would be this:

Move On!

Come to think of it, maybe a few people did tell me that. So perhaps the advice should be, "Listen!" But I'm not too good at that either. As they say, all's well that ends well. Thankfully, my dating life ended well. I got Hubby.
