:Find an old hymn

The other day this verse jogged a memory for me:

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Psalm 51:7-9

"Whiter than snow" . . . it is an old hymn. I'm going to find it, and post the words here later.

I'm so grateful for old hymns. Tunes that pop into my head for no apparent reason, but then are just the words I needed to hear.

Does that ever happen to you? What is your favorite hymn?

  1. OMgosh yes! sometimes I wake up with one in my head or a chorus from a song. I find myself repeating them over and over. I rather like that..the way music sticks with you.

  2. I think I know what song you're referring to, but I can't think of it.

Just prayed for your husband and his group. And for you. I'm sure the distance is tough at times.

  3. I love hymns. I love one we have called "Where Can I Turn for Peace" all about finding Jesus when we are at the end of our rope.

  5. My absolute favorite is "Because He Lives." We got to a contemporary service at church so I miss singing the old hymns!

  6. oh my gosh, this is soooooo true for me too. This is when you know these were written thru a prophetic word. There have been times in my life when I will just start singing this song, know all the words to it, it's an old hymn, and it gets me thru that moment....He knows what we need when we need it!

  7. Lately, it hasn't really been old hymns, but songs that I hear on the radio, or that I used to sing in youth group. Just a chorus or a line will pop into my head. I won't even realize that I am singing it, but when it hits my consciousness, the song always seems to hold the words that I needed to hear.

  8. I love old hymns. There is something so powerful about the idea of people singing the same song for hundreds and hundreds of years. As a former Catholic girl, I know my fair share of hymns. My fav? On Eagles Wings.
