: Save Water

To get ready for the Walk for Water this weekend, we are focusing on saving water around the house.

"Why?" the children ask.

Good question. They don't know that faucets everywhere don't spit out clean water, with no apparent end. It is hard for them to understand that not everyone lives like we do. It's hard for me to understand.

I've found that gently explaining clean water as a precious gift, not to be wasted, is a start. Here are ways we are working to save water around our house:
  • Check for leaks. Super fun for little boys with flash lights.
  • Turn off the water while brushing teeth.
  • Little less water in the bathtub.
  • Little less time in the shower.
  • Make sure the dishwasher is full.
  • Everyone use one cup for the day, instead of 4, 5, 6 . . .
What about you? How do you save water at your house? How do you talk to your kids about it?

Don't forget:

If you live around Charleston, go here to register for the Walk.

Go here to register for TEAM MPPC!

And if you're just feeling generous, go here to make a general donation.
