Plan our Spring Break

Maybe you are in the middle of Spring Break, or maybe (hello, working world!) you don't get a Spring Break. I remember painfully mourning the loss of Spring Break when I was held captive in an office tower for years. It is tough, and all I can say is, I'm sorry. Really. If you are in the middle of Spring Break, I hope you are having fun. Perhaps you can contribute some ideas, below.

My kids get a Spring Break (from their incredibly rigorous preschool schedule) around Easter. Still a few weeks away, but it deserves some thought. We will be driving to see my parents for Easter weekend, but the rest of the sans-preschool week will be spent at home.

Maybe we will bake cookies and play in the back yard. Maybe we will go to the park, or to the beach. Maybe we will go to a museum, or see a movie. Maybe we will stay in our pajamas the entire time. Maybe I will get to do this:

Aahhhh. . . . I can dream, right?

The point is, I need to think about it. I need to solidify our travel plans and jot down some ideas for the rest of the week. A helpful starting point is this article at Life as Mom, Planning a Great Staycation. I like her ideas about taking some time off, even in your own home. Sounds marvelous.

What are you doing for Spring Break?
Do you make plans, or just let it happen?

  1. We are taking the kids and my in-laws to NYC. As it is getting closer, I am wondering what in the world we were thinking planning such a trip!!! I am sure the boys will love it but I am also sure that I will be a big ball of stress the whole time!

  2. We just let things happen the first few days of Spring Break and it was wonderful just staying at home and relaxing. We went on a little trip later in the week and it was almost too much! My daughter got sick just from being so tired! I think I like "just letting things happen" better.

  3. I like to just let things happens with 1-2 planned days mixed in. One great adventure that little boys love is a visit to the serpentarium at Edisto. While you're down there, you can hit Botany Bay, too. My boys love both of those. Oh, and the paddle boats at James Island County Park - something that we rarely do so it remains a treat.

  4. Just back from Spring Break, where I had some very good emotional (if not physical) rest as we visited with old friends, did Disney World and Cocoa Beach, and engaged in a lot of lazing around the hotel pool. Thanks for visiting my place last week. I'm just catching up on all the visits while I was gone! See you again soon!
