Weekend Word

Friday, March 4, 2011

{Welcome to the weekend! I've chosen a word from my Bible's concordance, and am sharing a few of the related verses. I hope you will consider theses verses over the weekend, and perhaps spend time in the Word finding others. If you don't have a Bible handy, here is a great online version. Till Monday. . .}

Rest

Van Gogh, Noon: Rest From Work (Image credit)

You saw this one coming, right?

For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Exodus 31:15(a)

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. Psalm 62:1

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it." Isaiah 30:15

This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, "We will not walk in it." Jeremiah 6:16

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Hebrews 4:9-10
