It's Works For Me Wednesday, and do you know what works for me?

Even the criers work for me.

If you’ve got a new baby at home, I don’t have to tell you how much your life has changed. You are nursing around the clock, sleeping in three hour shifts, and showering when necessary. The last thing you want to do is get dressed up and drag that needy child to a place of quiet and rest.

But oh, how you need quiet and rest. I know, I’ve been there. . .

  1. Our church encourages the entire family to stay in service. I love the sounds of new babies in church and mom certainly needs the time in service.

  2. Babies, toddlers, and all kiddos belong in church! Where else will they learn how to worship?

  3. Our church encourages the newborn babes to stay with the Mommies...and at age three our nursery ends...and they learn to sit with the family and listen to the Pastor. We have our kids draw pictures of what they hear...the descriptions are adorable! Thank you for writing this post...I will be saving it and giving it to a few good friends who could use it's encouragement!

  4. I just hate it when people make the moms feel so guilty just because their kids are being kids.

Yes, if kids are always off in the nursery, how will they get to experience church?

  6. Oh I love this, Courtney!! I think it's wonderful for new babies to take part in activities like church. And I remember feeling nervous that my kids would be disruptive when I was a new mommy. And I still feel that way sometimes.. But as a bystander, I love hearing babies cooing and crying...they sound so sweet.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful mama's heart with us today :)

  7. I agree. Babies belong in church! And their mama's need to know it's ok when they squeak. Life has changed enough, new mama's need to relax and rest in the presence of God.

  8. We had a visiting priest who told us that whenever he hears a baby make noise in church, he gives thanks--because he had worked in Romanian orphanages where the babies got so little attention, they had given up on crying--when you hear a baby cry or squawk, you know it is healthy and loved!

My son is 6 now and has come with me almost every time I've gone to church since he was conceived. He's learned a lot about God and a lot about how to behave!
