WFMW: De-lurking

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

{Before we get started, I must mention that today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Read a beautiful post about that, here. Also, you can find a printable Lenten calendar for kids, here. Rest assured, I agree that Lent deserves a lot more attention than that, so I will be discussing it more over the next 40 days.}

Until then . . .

It's Works for me Wednesday and do you know what works for me?

De-lurking

Wait! Don't run away. I totally lurk on many blogs. (Lurking, by the way, means I read a blog but never announce my presence in any way, shape, or form. I lurk.)

Even though I'm guilty of lurking here or there, I'm more comfortable saying, "Hello. Love this," or "Wow. This is crazy. Never coming back here again." Actually, I'm a lurker in the latter. I'm not good with confrontation.

But today, I confront! If you are out there, please say hello. Comment, email, follow, subscribe. . . emerge from the shadows. You are welcome here. This is not a numbers game. I would just love to know who is a part of this community. I want to hear your voice.

Because lately, I've been surprised by how many people have approached me in "real life" to say, "I've been reading your blog. Its really good." I respond, "Oh, wow - thank you. I'm so glad you like it." But inside I'm thinking, "How did you even know I had a blog?" and "Oh my, I guess I'd better behave."

This blog keeps me accountable. I like that.

And, I like knowing you. I like reading YOUR blogs, and learning from YOU. I like hearing your progressive thoughts and providing a space for you to share them with others.

So, thanks for being here. Thank you for reading. Welcome.

And if you feel so inclined, please say hello.

I'm really, truly, glad you are here.
