Weekend Word: Fool

Friday, April 1, 2011

{Welcome to the weekend! I've chosen a word from my Bible's concordance, and am sharing a few of the related verses. I hope you will consider theses verses over the weekend, and perhaps spend time in the Word finding others. If you don't have a Bible handy, here is a great online version. Till Monday. . .}

(Vintage April Fool's Day postcard found here.)

The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. Psalm 14:1

The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult. Proverbs 12:15-16

A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions. Proverbs 18:2

A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control. Proverbs 29:11

Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. I Corinthians 3:18-19(a)

  1. I love your Weekend Word series. I find it challenging without being preachy. I am praying for a similar way to incorporate God;s word and truth into my weeekly writing. Great job!

  2. Interesting...I was talking about being a fool with my kids this morning on the way to school (because they mentioned April Fools Day)

    Considering how much God grows us in different seasons in our lives, there's no way I'd think I was wise because of my age!

    Good and godly advice! Thanks! :)
