It's Works for Me Wednesday, the Green Edition:

Do you know what works for me?

Dryer balls. I got mine at Target, but I cannot find them on the Target website, so you will have to settle for this link, here. Mine look like this:

They work!

For real.

Big Guy is having some sensitive skin issues, so I have been looking for ways to eliminate fragrances and chemicals that come in contact with his skin. We have always used the "free and clear" dryer sheets, but I hated producing so much trash. Something to throw away after every load = no good. So, while in Target one day I spotted these "As Seen on TV" gems and decided to give them a try. We've been using them for at least two months and I am still happy with the impulse purchase. Sometimes there is a smidge of static, but mostly everything comes out soft and static-free. I love knowing that I have eliminated at least one potential source of my son's itchy skin, and I love that my laundry room trash can requires less frequent emptying.

Bonus: The boys think that loading the dryer is fun now! Who gets to throw in the balls? Oh, the competition! The displays of athletic skills!

Good stuff.

Do you have a green laundry tip? Do tell!

  1. This is too funny! I have always thought they were a gimmick. I have always wondered if they work, because it sure would make my life a little easier. I love that yours are PINK! I don't have enough PINK in my house!

  2. I had one I picked up at the dollar store and it worked great too. But now it is missing, I think one of the kids probably thought it was a dog toy or something so no telling where it is. lol

  3. Have you heard anything about Norwex? I recently sat in on a presentation of their products...super cool and VERY green!

My friend who also has a child with ultra sensitive skin and is in the process of eliminating all chemicals from her home-keeping swears by it.
