Weekend Word: Mother

Friday, May 6, 2011

{Welcome to the weekend! I've chosen a word from my Bible's concordance, and am sharing a few of the related verses. I hope you will consider theses verses over the weekend, and perhaps spend time in the Word finding others. If you don't have a Bible handy, here is a great online version. Till Monday. . .}

(Ah, the glory days.)

Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living. Genesis 3:20

Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long, and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Deuteronomy 5:15

Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck. Proverbs 1:8-9

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem. Isaiah 66:13

As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you." He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." Luke 11:27-28

But we were gentle among you, like a mother caring for her little children. I Thessalonians 2:7
