Weekend Word: Study/Student

Friday, May 13, 2011

{Welcome to the weekend! I've chosen a word from my Bible's concordance, and am sharing a few of the related verses. I hope you will consider theses verses over the weekend, and perhaps spend time in the Word finding others. If you don't have a Bible handy, here is a great online version. Till Monday. . .}

(F)or the gracious hand of his God was on him. For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel. Ezra 7:9(b)-10

The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails - given by one Shepherd. Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body. Ecclesiastes 12:11-12

(Jesus said) You diligently study the Scriptures, because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life. John 5:39-40

(Jesus said) A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant about his master. It is enough for the student to be like his teacher and the servant like his master. Matthew 10:24-25(a)

  1. Amen, this is so good.  I also love that picture!!  I want to be the best and most diligent student!!

  2. What an appropriate submission for the season.
    I, too, long to hide His word in my heart so that I not only may not sin, but come to know Him ~ who He is ~ as much as possible.

  3.  As graduations abound this time of year, these verses are great reflections. We are to be continuous students.

  4. Great choices for verses!
