Weekend Word: Father

Friday, June 17, 2011

{Welcome to the weekend! I've chosen a word from my Bible's concordance, and am sharing a few of the related verses. I hope you will consider theses verses over the weekend, and perhaps spend time in the Word finding others. If you don't have a Bible handy, here is a great online version. Till Monday. . .}

Father

(My father and me, when I was 11 days old.)

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12

There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place. Deuteronomy 1:31

Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Proverbs 23:22

(Jesus said) "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16

Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does." John 5:19

Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring - not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. Romans 4:16

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

P.S. Also my parents' 39th wedding anniversary today. Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!
