Reap to Sow

Monday, September 26, 2011

I like to tell people that I grew up in the middle of a corn field. I give that answer when they ask, "Where are you from?" and my reply, "Southern Illinois" draws a blank stare. Unless you are from there, you typically don't know that Southern Illinois = a bunch of small towns surrounded by corn (and soybean) fields. I grew up in two of those small towns, and as such, I know a thing or two about fields. I at least know that sowing comes before reaping.

But, Andrea and I are mixing things up a bit. We aren't farming, after all; we are raising children. As mothers, we want to look at life in terms of, "What can I do for me, so that I can be a better mom for my kids?" Moms need to reap a harvest, and be fed, before we can feed our families. We need to learn, understand, glean what we can from God's Word before we can apply it in the daily care of our young seedlings.

That is why we are calling our upcoming discussion of The Power of a Positive Mom

Beginning October 10, we'll take two chapters each week and share what spoke to our hearts. We hope you will read along and join us in this discussion (more details on those particulars to follow). While deepening the connections within the online community, we hope to strengthen each other on this journey of motherhood.

If you would like to join us, please find a copy of the book and dig in. Check back here the week of October 3 for details on how we will share what we glean from the pages.
