Weekend Word: Friends

Friday, September 9, 2011

{Welcome to the weekend! I've chosen a word from my Bible's concordance, and am sharing a few of the related verses. I hope you will consider these verses over the weekend, and perhaps spend some time in the Word finding others. If you don't have a Bible handy, here is a great online version. Till Monday . . . }

When Job's three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about al the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him. Job 2:11

After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. Job 42:10

One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

(Jesus said) "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." John 15:13-15
