WFMW: The 2011 BTS Feast

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

A couple Wednesdays ago, I blogged about planning for this year's Back to School Feast. It happened on Monday night.

This year's phrase is . . .

And the corresponding verse . . .

I distracted the boys with a cartoon (and their father!) while I got the table ready. We had roasted chicken, corn on the cob and roasted broccoli - favorites. There were some special items on the menu, too.

Chocolate cake and pink lemonade are big time treats. I went with a fish theme because I had it on hand. Sea creatures are helpful and kind, right?

To make the Feast complete, Hubby added place cards and each boy had a crown to decorate at his place. I am weird about the world wide web knowing my kids' names, so please insert your own here :)

I must say, their reactions when they came in the kitchen made it all worthwhile. They gasped at the cardboard fish hanging from the ceiling fan. They loved decorating and wearing their crowns, and they proclaimed the food delicious before it was even served.

Big Guy thanked me multiple times for "the best Back to School Feast ever!" and Hubby says we will be doing this until they go off to college. It was a fun and memorable family night, totally worth the planning and effort on my part. Look at my decor - it was easy!!

On the way to school the next day, we recited the phrase and the verse, and I truly couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Have you ever done a Back to School Feast, or something similar? What works for you?
