The Tenth Day of Christmas

Ace Collins's book, Stories Behind the Great Traditions of Christmashas had a great impact on me this season. His chapter on The Twelve Days of Christmas fascinated me so much, that I want to share it here, for the twelve days, December 25th - January 5th.

"On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me . . . ten lords a-leaping. This is probably the easiest gift to understand. As lords were judges and in charge of the law, this code for the Ten Commandments was fairly straightforward to the Catholics."

  1. My son and I are loving this series. We had heard that there was a meaning to the song but could'nt work out what it could be. And we are still somewhat bad at guessing every day!
