Weekend Word: Trumpet

Friday, March 30, 2012

{Welcome to the weekend! I've chosen a word from my Bible's concordance, and am sharing a few of the related verses. I hope you will consider these verses over the weekend, and perhaps spend some time in the Word finding others. If you don't have a Bible handy, here is a great online version. Till Monday . . . }

Trumpet

Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. . . As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him. Exodus 19:17 and 19

Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in. Joshua 6:4-5

Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre. Psalm 150:2-3

So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Matthew 6:2-3

Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. Matthew 24:30-31
