I made a fun picture! 

It is my way of saying "I'm sorry" for boring you with the ins and outs of my measly 3 times a week exercise routine.

Fess Up Friday was supposed to be a place where we help each other carry out our goals, but all I heard was crickets. Not very inspirational, and totally my fault. I've come up with, what I hope, will be a better concept: Fess Up Friday: Goals & Indulgences

This is a place to share a goal you are working on, and one (or two or three) ways you have treated yourself - indulged -  along the way. I'm not talking about sabotaging your goals; I'm talking about taking care of yourself. I want to encourage you (and me) to put your goals, your desires, your preferences, your wants first, every once in a while.

For example, maybe your goal is to read more fiction, and you read two books recently. Hooray! Maybe you also indulged by enjoying a coffee date with a friend and your husband took the kids so you could spend an entire day by yourself. Hurrah!

I think we should celebrate these things. Someone else's goal or indulgence might help you discover something new, inspire you to learn more, or motivate you to live better. Wanna give it a try? I'll go first:

I'm still working on my exercise goals, not because I want to lose weight or look different, but because I simply need to take care of myself. I know it is the right thing to do for my health, now and in the future. My preference, though, during any "free" time is to indulge. In the last few weeks I've enjoyed long-overdue/impossible-to-schedule friend time, including coffee and shopping with two loyal friends and a weekend celebrating the upcoming marriage of another. Girl time is good.

Now, it's your turn. If you are working towards a goal, how is it going? Have you indulged in any way, shape, or form in the last month? Tell us about it. You just might inspire the weekend plans of the stressed-out, over-worked, neglected woman who clicks over next.

  1. Hmmm...nice- I like it! I (even this Personal Trainer) need to find my fitness self again...yes even the trainer can get off track- that is a long story I may need to share to come clean and encourage others. SO many goals...24 hours - I ask Him to help me prioritize and it is good. Have a lovely weekend!

Yes!  Lots of goals, no time to get them done!  I did set a goal last year of reading more classic literature.  I have not read any (yet!) but a couple of friends and I have started a classics book club with our first meeting in late June.  We are reading "Little Women."  Should be some fun girl time and help me achieve one of my goals!!  We hope to continue every 2 months with another book so when our children have to read these classics, they will be in our recent memory!

  3. Right now, I'm about to have an hour or so of rest before I hustle off to finish birthday party preparations.  Before I would always work before rest, but rest would never come!

  4. You too, Dawn. It certainly makes me feel better to know that even a personal trainer gets off track now and again!

  5. Jayda - What a great idea. Little Women was one of my favorite books as a child - I should re-read it!

  6. Jen - This is exactly my point. An hour of rest is something we rarely allow ourselves. I hope you enjoyed it!
