We spent time at the beach with family, celebrating my parents 40th wedding anniversary. It was fun and special, a time to unplug* and let blogging take a backseat. That has been my summer theme. I'm not visiting other blogs or posting as regularly as I usually do. Being at home with my kids 24/7 simply doesn't allow for it, and that is ok. Still, I'm here, writing and visiting when I can. Thank YOU for continuing to check in, read, and comment, when you get around to it. Summer is a time to relax, and I hope you are getting a chance to do just that.
Now! Without further ado - here are the results of Just Curious: May and June 2012. (aka We Could All Be Real Life Friends.)
You've got some conditions for moms wearing bikinis. For some of you, it's just not right. For most everyone, tankinis are the way to go. (Personally, I applaud moms who rock a bikini;
You are dog people, but just barely. Cats came in second. Thanks to Hubby's allergies, we have pet frogs. I'm totally okay with that.
Are there no moms-of-girls out there? Or maybe your houses are just cleaner than mine? In any case, most of us trip over/step on Legos or Matchbox cars around our houses. NO ONE selected Barbies or Polly Pockets . . . maybe your girls play with other toys? I certainly didn't meant to stereotype. Either way, I find it comforting that I'm not the only one shouting "Ow!" as I go from point A to point B in my house.
When you exercise, you'd rather not talk. I completely agree with this - though it is not because I'm anti-social. It is because I am out of breath.
You will absolutely stop reading a so-so book. I recently came to this point. I was trying to push myself through a blah book few months ago, and I finally thought, "Why?" How liberating to put it down.
Some of you "never" pay your kids to do chores, but most of you pay, sometimes. I fall into the latter category. There are some chores that I've always expected my boys to do. Sometimes, I'll let them do something extra in order to earn a quarter, 50 cents, or "a paper dollar." They love paper dollars and will work hard for one!
Most of you wake up between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m., but a very close second was 5:00 - 6:00 a.m. Interestingly, almost no one gets to sleep in past 7:00 a.m. But just think! Teenage years . . . one day, they will sleep in. They will.
It is hard for you to unplug on vacation. You need your phone, and some of you keep the computer or a tablet nearby. *I enjoyed being semi-plugged in on our vacation. I found new apps on my phone and read on my Kindle. I ignored email and only opened the laptop once to write, at the end of the week. Keeping the laptop shut is me being unplugged.
As always, thanks for playing. If you are "Just Curious" about something, let me know and I'll ask . . .
Finally, HAPPY FORTH OF JULY! I'll see you back here on Thursday.
