"If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers. " E.W. Howe
but it doesn't feel so dog gone overwhelming anymore.
Maybe it is because my kids are a bit older.
Maybe it is because I am, too.
Mostly, it is because of this blog. I've enjoyed good online therapy here. I started A Work in Progress in an effort to find my happy place in stay-at-home motherhood. I needed to come near to God, and figure out how to be a more (pardon the exceptionally overused word) intentional mom. I needed to do a better job of embracing the good in every moment, every day. The approach of this new school year has made me realize that is happening.
|A recent good moment.|
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10Those "good works" might be your children, your home, your workplace, the spaces around you right now. They could be across the globe. The point is, the good works are out there, waiting for you. Think about that.
I know my work isn't done. There is more to learn, more to experience. Challenges and triumphs wait. For now, though, it is simply good to pause, right here in this moment, and enjoy it.
How are you feeling as this new school season approaches?
