Making Way for Beautiful: Getting Over Myself

Thursday, August 9, 2012

We got a new couch.

Three guesses where it's from?
(1) Not consignment.
(2) Not the "furniture gallery."
(3) Wal-Mart

Yep. Good old Wally World. My first employer. (Did you know that?) Wal-Mart is an American fixture which you may love, hate, or both. It was not my first choice when I thought, "I want a new couch."
(1) This is the slipcover style I wanted.
(2) The price was right.
(3) The reviews were good.

It arrived in a great big box in early July, and so far, so good.

Our new couch is from Wal-Mart. Saying that (in bold, no less) requires me to:
Get over thinking that beautiful must be expensive.
Get over thinking that beautiful must be perfect.
Get over worrying what others will think.
Get over indecision.
Get over myself.
Our new couch is from Wal-Mart and I love it.

  1. Do you still have this couch??? I love it!!! :)

  2. The pillow in the very middle is so pretty.  The curved arms on the sofa seem to be begging me to take a nap!

  3. It looks great, regardless of where it comes from. And that's what matters, right? I've been meaning to see if I can find any here in Germany for our IKEA couch...but I have yet to get that far :)

  4. Thanks, Tiffany. I really wanted an IKEA couch, but could not justify the shipping cost. This one is almost the exact same size, and I found comments online saying you can even use an IKEA slipcover on it . . . we'll see. Online shopping may be your ticket, once you get that far down on your list! :)

  5. You're so nice to say so! It is cozy and a great spot for naps.

  6. Yes! This is the one we just got. It is so much more comfortable than the ones we sold back in June.
