A Packing Tip

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Here's a handy-dandy tip that I discovered this summer, thanks to a friend who traveled overseas for three weeks:
(1) Put your clothes in a 2 gallon zip-top plastic bag,
(2) Press all the air out,
(3) Pack.
No need to buy any "As Seen on TV" bags - this works. (I found the 2 gallon bags at Wal-Mart.) I used this method for our boys when they went to my parents' house for a week. Granted, summer clothes are smaller and lighter than winter clothes, but still! This held two boys' clothes for an entire week:
The bags made it easy to label the clothes, too. My mom didn't have to guess about what clothes belonged to what boy. I made two piles of clothes, labeled them, and that was it.
Two piles, bagged, labeled, and ready to be packed.
I used this same trick for packing the adult bags to Paris. Everything came out nice and wrinkle free. Try it if you are traveling this Christmas - it worked for me!
