Napkins for Your Child's Lunch Box

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

"Why do you have Halloween napkins in your purse?" one woman asked, as another whipped the smiling pumpkin faces and a juice box out of her bag.

We were at a meeting, adults only. Except another woman had to bring her three year-old at the last minute, and she was thirsty.

"I'm a mom!" the juice box provider replied. "We live out of this bag. Plus, my kids think it is so fun when I put these napkins in their lunch boxes. I'm like," she joked, "the coolest mom at preschool!"

We all laughed. Then I took notes. After Halloween, I bought Thanksgiving napkins for the boys. Snowman napkins came next. Two weeks ago we hit a sale at the party store and came home with this:
Now, I surprise them with a different "fun" napkin each day. They LOVE it.

I'm like, the coolest mom.

How do you make boxed lunches special?

  1. Love this idea! My kindergartener takes his lunch almost everyday of the week. For his treat, I choose one day at random to send in a little chocolate kiss. He never knows which day of the week the treat will be there and he loves the surprise. - Heather

    1. What a great idea, Heather! I will use that one. Thanks :)

  2. Hey, there! I found you from WFMW at We Are That Family. Love this idea, and my boys will too! Thanks for sharing. :)

    1. Hi Mandy - Thanks for visiting. I love WFMW. So many good ideas to share. Off to visit you now . . .

  3. I bought "love notes" from Dayspring and every now and then surprise them with a sweet note in their lunch box. They each have a stash of them in their rooms, so I know they like them enough to keep them.
