Number 17: Buy the Truth and Do Not Sell It

The cross covered in prayers.
Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding. The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him. May your father and mother be glad; may she who gave you birth rejoice! Proverbs 23:22-25

{Saying Number 17 is part of a series I'm featuring on Fridays. It comes straight from the Bible, and you can read more here: 30 Sayings of the Wise}

*Today is Good Friday, the day we remember Jesus on the cross. I've been reading the account of Jesus's last days in The Message. That translation is helping me think about the reality of this time, and miracle of it all, in new ways. Here it is in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. It is interesting to read all four accounts, since each contains different details. I encourage you to do so this weekend. Happy Easter.

  2. Yes, I think it's so important to take the time somehow to ponder the agonizing work of the cross, to grow our appreciation for the resurrection gift it produced. A blessed Easter to you!
