Walk for Water - Coming Soon!

Monday, March 17, 2014

This year, I'm not in charge, but we will be there.

Last year's Team MPPC, ready to walk
Our church and preschool has participated in Water Mission International's Walk for Water for the last four years. The children collect money in empty water bottles, and we accept donations online. Every year, we've raised over $4,000 for clean water and living water to be shared in the far corners of the world. We done it mostly with preschoolers and change

This is a lesson that small things matter.

My precious preschooler has busied himself for days, collecting change from every jar around the house. He emptied his piggy bank first, and I couldn't be more proud. His water bottle was heavy with change when he returned it to school. He asked me if it would be enough for "one of the clean water machines" - I said yes. It was enough.

Participating in the Walk for Water is one of the ways we are trying to raise children who are aware of the larger world. We don't - cannot - participate in every such opportunity. This is one we choose. If you think it might be a good opportunity for you, it's not too late. The Walk will happen this Saturday, March 22nd.

  1. Awesome! We are also holding a Water Walk at our church with our Awana kids in April. So great to see the kids get involved with helping someone less fortunate. :)

  2. What a great way to teach little ones about making a difference. I'm glad I linked up next to you at Soli Deo Gloria!

  3. What a beautiful way to fulfill "I was thirsty and you gave me water..." I've found I'm never sorry for the times I encouraged my children to become involved in ministry. I've seen the seeds planted in the harvest of their adult lives.

  4. Involving our kids in these types of service opportunities is such a blessing. There is something empowering when they get to take part in helping someone else. Praying for your walk this weekend and those who will benefit from what you raise!
